The Cologne-based techno trio the Smack came together at the School of Music Cologne, where they all studied Jazz. After different projects in all sorts of music, they fell in love with techno and started to experiment in playing techno just on their instruments, without any loops or laptop. At their first gig in 2008 at a house party, the small crowd freaked out completely and they realized that they should go on. From then on, the Smack played over 50 shows all over Germany and in some European countries. In June 2010 they supported Booka Shade as the headliner of the c/o-pop festival.
